Stunning ride by Aarron
Kiveton Park 10 - 02/04/2005 - Course O10/2
The first real warm sunny day of the season saw most of the
Cherry Valley Racing Team riding one event on Saturday 2nd
April 2005. The 10 mile time trial held on the A1 between
Ranby and Blyth near Retford, the day saw one personal best
and most of the Cherry Valley riders placing well in a full
field of 120 riders.
The day started well with early starter Andy Lintin (Cherry
Valley RT) setting a blistering pace of 21.27 for the 10 mile
course. With Andy an early starter, just after 2pm, he set
off for a long ride home to Bardney and some quality training
miles whilst team mate Gareth Williams finished with a time
of 21.37 just a few minutes after Andy to finish 27th. Pleased
with his performance on the day and good enough for 20th place,
Andy noted this was his fastest 10 for 2 years and hopes these
performances continue.
With both Andy and Gareth safely home with some good times,
17 year old Cherry Valley rider Aaron Tuplin nearly set the
result board on fire with his stunning time of 21.41 and fastest
time ever for a new personal best. Averaging nearly 28mph,
Aaron also won the prize for the fastest Junior, beating some
other quality Junior riders of national distinction and beating
two thirds of the senior field to finish 30th. Meanwhile,
19 year old Sam Tuplin, older brother of Aaron, continued
to show his cycling class by improving by another 1 and a
half minutes from his 10 time the previous week at Sleaford
and produce a time of 22.42 which was good enough for 66th
place.
Next on the road was Andy Moore, who in recent weeks had
been making his battles with Ian Dalton a lot closer, but
today opting not to use his disc wheel because of gearing
choice, Andy had already put himself at a disadvantage. Despite
this, Andy produced his fastest 10 mile time of the year to
finish 9th in a great time of 20.50. With a full field of
120 quality riders, Ian was next to finish with a time of
20.20 and only 30 seconds faster than team mate Andy Moore.
Finding the weather conditions a lot harder than others had
described, Ian found the return leg to the finish hard work
and at time struggling to keep the speed above 25mph. Despite
the strong breeze blowing down the course making a head wind
finish, Ian was still 3rd overall and only 13 seconds behind
the race winner Sam Barker (API Metrow).
