Caravan costs Andy Moore a win
Newark Castle 10 - 06/08/2005 - A10/14a
An accident on the halfway around the course scuppered Andy
Moores chances of a win in the Newark Castle 10 on Saturday
6th August after a rapid start by the Cherry Valley rider.
Racing on the Long Bennington 10 course on the A1 in the
south of Lincolnshire, Andy had an early start but was halted
half way out to the turn at Gonerby Moore roundabout by a
jack-knifed caravan which caused Andy a lengthy delay and
cost many valuable seconds. The accident caused the event
to be delayed by half an hour before being re-started, but
this was too late for Andy who had already been delayed. The
Cherry Valley rider from Lincoln eventually crossed the finish
line frustrated but with a time of 20.51 and it was obvious
that Andy was going well today and if it had not been for
the caravan then……….. well, we will never
know.
Meanwhile Andy’s teammate, Sam Tuplin, continued his
fine form with a stunning ride and time of 21.48. Sam was
not afforded the usual traffic assistance provided by this
course as most vehicles had taken another route to avoid the
accident, so Sam’s time was even more impressive as
it was a pure out and back time trial un-assisted by traffic.
Meanwhile, on a separate note, we welcome back Sam’s
younger brother Aaron, who is making a remarkably rapid recovery
from glandular fever and has just been given the all clear
by the doctor to start some very light training again.
