Winning ways continue as Andy Moore repeats his 2004 victory
Bourne Wheelers Hardriders 25 - 13/03/2005 - Course CS/13
Another cold, windy but this time sunny day saw the start
of the racing season for Andy Moore (Cherry Valley RT) with
a stunning victory on the Bourne Wheelers Hilly event held
around two laps of the Essendine circuit near Stamford in
Lincolnshire on Sunday 13th March 2005. Andy rode strongly
on his recently converted road bike over the bumpy and hilly
Lincolnshire roads battling a strong and bitterly cold North
Westerly wind finish in a time of 56.39 to beat his team mate
Ian Dalton by a comfortable margin.
Ian, also opting to ride his road bike, was suffering the
effects of his first double racing weekend after his rapid
ride in the Scunthorpe 10 the previous day recorded a time
of 57.21. With Ian and Andy fighting it out for first place,
Gareth (Cherry Valley RT) was a further minute behind team
mate Ian to take third spot and dominate the overall placings
with a time of 58.18.
A further minute behind teammate Gareth was Andy Lintin (Cherry
Valley RT) with a time of 59.16 to finish in fifth spot. Andy
who was suffering with mechanical difficulties still managed
to complete his second lap stronger than his first. Just missing
out on 6th place and finishing 9th overall was Aaron Tuplin
(Cherry Valley RT) with a fine time of 1.00.23.
With all 5 of the Cherry Valley riders gaining top 10 placings,
the team dominated the Bourne Wheelers Hilly. This was a good
day for the team so early on in the season especially with
so much more to come from Aaron, Sam and Richard who have
barely started training.
‘Just glad to get the first race out of the way’
was Andy’s response to his first ride and win of the
2005 season. Meanwhile, Aaron was in reflective mood admitting
to over training during the week and performing 500 sit-ups
at the Gym on the Thursday evening was the best preparation
for his first weekend of racing but its still so early the
counting events for the team don’t start until next
weekend.
The team now prepare for the LRRA 2up next weekend 20th March
which will see Richard Robinson (Cherry Valley RT) partner
Aaron in his first race of the season. The other partnerships
are Andy Moore and Ian Dalton who will be favourites to retain
the championship and Andy Lintin and Gareth Williams.
