A5 Rangers 10 - 13/03/2005 - Course N17/10
Riding his first race in Cherry Valley Team colours, Sam
Tuplin produced a creditable ride in the A5 Rangers 10 mile
time trial on Sunday 13th March 2005. With the wind howling
down the course from a Northerly direction, the conditions
were tough to say the least which was made even worse by the
near zero temperatures. Sam, who is currently in his first
year studying at Coventry University, made the A5 Rangers
event his first of the season just to get a ‘yard stick’
on his current form. Despite struggling to train properly
because he lives in the town centre, Sam still returned a
time of 26.16, good enough for 21st place, with the event
winner Carl Saint (Yorkshire RC) winning with a time of 21.57.
Sam described the 10 as ‘the hardest 10 I have ever
done, the course was nearly all dual carriageway, yet it was
hard as hell’. Sam was still happy with his ride considering
how little training he has done and it was a bit of a shock
adjusting to the brutal position of his time trial bike. Sam
his back home this Friday 18th March for the Easter period
for four weeks and aims to get some quality training done
with the rest of the team and lend his support to the team
in the LRRA 2up on Sunday morning.
