Bad day for Cherry Valley
duo
Dinnington Road Race - 03/09/2006 - Braithwell, South Yorkshire
Gareths race diary
‘After feeling pretty bad for the last 10 days or so,
I decided to sit at the back and just follow the wheels. After
30 mins I decided to have a dig and started to cross to a
move. I could feel my throat was a bit sore but carried on
as Rich was also bridging across with another rider. Just
as we hit the top of the small climb into the wind Rich touched
a back wheel and hit the deck heavily. Luckily it was so windy
we were going less than 20mph up the climb so I thought he
would be OK. I carried on and felt really frustrated because
my legs felt good but my throat was really tingling which
stopped me from tapping through to drive the move.
After sitting at the back for a few more miles I called it
a day at an hours racing thinking it best not to aggravate
my sore throat and save myself for another weekend.
Despite plenty of cuts and bruising, Rich is OK and will
be back again next weekend’.
