Bad luck for Richard and the rest of the road team

Halifax Road Race - 04/06/2006 - Hartshead, West Yorkshire

A warm and sunny day greeted the riders in the Halifax Road Race at Hartshead Moor in West Yorkshire. It was a sunny day for most of the riders but it ended grey and dismal for Richard.

With Andy Hayton missing with a long term injury and Gareth deciding to rest and get over a bad cold, Richard was left on his own to take on a full field of first cat riders over a demanding course.

After getting over an illness himself, Richard started brightly and made the jump to the winning break which contained all the favourites including Simon Martin, Steven Ward and Mike Moss. After feeling comfortable and working weel, the laps were ticking by nicely for Richard and the break was know well established and the winner would come from these 10 riders.

At the halfway point bad luck hit Richard and he punctured whilst in the winning break. Although disappointed, Rich now has the confidence to ride with first cats as for the second time in a row he has made the winning break. Race winner was Steven Ward of Team Swift Allsports.
