Ian and Andy suffer on revised
course in heat
Rutland 10 - 28/07/2006 - Five Lane Ends, A1, Notts
The strong winds returned to a revised version of the O10/2
course on Saturday 29th July for the Rutland 10. Both Ian
and Andy Moore returned times well below their capability
but Ian still managed to salvage 4th spot overall.
Because of long term road works at the Blyth roundabout,
the original O10/2 course will be out of action for sometime
and a course heading south to Markham Moor was used instead.
The riders set off near 5 lane ends roundabout to join the
A1 heading south through Elkersley to turn at Markham Moor
and with the wind behind them from the turn, the riders faced
the uphill drag to the finish just before 5 lane ends roundabout.
Andy had just finished as Ian started and it looked like
Andy had been suffering with the heat of the day. Andy recorded
a time of 22.00 which was well below par but would be good
enough for a 19th place overall. After starting, Ian couldn’t
get into his normal time trial rhythm and he would reach the
six-mile point before he would find that rhythm but this was
too late. After a rapid closing 4 miles by Ian, he eventually
finished with a time of 21.09 to gain 4th overall.
