The weather holds back Sam
Sherwood CC 10 - 12/08/2006 - Long Bennington, Nr Grantham
The weather took a turn for the worse over the weekend of
the 12th August as high winds and rain blew down the course
on the day of the Sherwood CC 10. The Sherwood 10 was held
on the normally fast A1 from Long Bennington to Gonerby Moor
near Grantham but with a strong northerly wind blowing down
the course, the slightly harder return leg was made even more
difficult with some real snail pace riding from Gonerby back
to Bennington.
Cherry Valleys sole rider in the event was Sam who was looking
for a good day to put in a fast ride but the weather conditions
beat him and Sam eventually finished with a time of 23.46.
A disappointed Sam had never felt so awful after finishing
a time trial with a nagging hip injury that was ‘hurting
like hell’ on the way back from the turn.
The event was won by Julian Ramsbottom (Scunthorpe Poly)
who could only manage a short 21 to underline how difficult
the day was.
