Cherry Valley riders take
top two places
VTTA 25 - 21/05/2006 - C25/27 - Boston
A dismal day greeted the riders in the VTTA 25 held near
Boston on Sunday May 21st
Using the course running from Frithville across to Sibsey
then up the A16 to Keal and then Revesby before finishing
at the end of the 7 mile straight just outside Boston. Four
Cherry Valley riders took on this wet and dismal day on this
flat circuit including Jon Surtees, Andy Moore, Aaron Tuplin
and Andy Lintin.
With a constant nagging breeze blowing across the course
from a South Easterly direction, a slow start was followed
by a faster section up the A16 section although the twisting
nature of the road meant there was very little help from the
wind as the course weaves is way through small villages on
the main road before more undulating section to Revesby.
After the tough conditions of Saturday, both Aaron and Andy
Lintin ventured out for more punishment on the Sunday whilst
Sam was still nursing a cold which meant he had to sit this
one out and probably shouldn't have ridden on the Saturday
at Lincoln. Andy Moore started 4 minutes behind Aaron which
was enough of a motivating factor for Aaron to start very
strongly and he was pushing himself very hard. As the rain
started to come down once again as Aaron reached Keal, he
was still feeling quite good and kept a good rhythm on the
next leg to Revesby.
Meanwhile both both Andy Moore and Jon Surtees were neck
and neck all the way around the course and Andy Lintin was
showing his ride from the previous day was no fluke as he
was not far off the pace. By the time Aaron got onto the 7
mile straight heading in a southerly direction to Boston,
the earlier efforts and this of the previous day were starting
to catch up with him as his hip cramped up 8 times down the
7 mile straight. The cramp was now messing up Aarons rhythm
and caused him to loose time whilst he had to stopped pedaling
each time. Aaron almost achieved his aim of not being caught
by Andy but Andy flew past Aaron just metres from the finish
line.
Meanwhile Andy Moore and Jon were battling out the win and
they were still neck and neck at Frithville just 2 miles from
the finish with Jon having the slight edge with a slim lead
of just 10 seconds. With Jon and Andy Moore battling out the
win, Andy Lintin was quietly going about his business and
he was fighting for 3rd spot himself just slightly off the
pace of the two leaders. As Andy Moore powered past Andy Aaron
just yards from the finish, he crossed the line with a time
of 57.01. As Jon came into sight at the finish line a short
while later he had pulled the stops out over the last 2 miles
from Frithville and took the finish in a time of 56.45 to
take the win and push Andy into second place.
