Third Place for Jon

Century RC 25 - 25/06/2006 - F20/25 - Ware, Hertfordshire

A disappointed Jon finished minutes behind his expected time in the Century RC 25 in Hertfordshire on Sunday morning 25th June. Despite his poor time, Jon still finishing 3rd in an event held on a hastily made replacement course for the proposed super fast F20/25 course.

The course ran North up the A10 dual carriageway to Puckeridge before turning and heading South again to complete a circuit of the fast F20/10 course near Ware. The evening before the race had been almost perfect with a light breeze, but the riders awoke to a stiff Northerly wind on the Sunday morning making the outward leg to Puckeridge difficult, especially over the undulating sections nearer to the Puckeridge Turn.

However hard Jon tried today, he just didn’t have the legs and despite putting the effort into the race, he just couldn’t find the strength to return the performance he knew he was capable of. An ‘off’ day for Jon is better than most peoples good days, as Jon showed his class by still finishing 3rd in a time of 54.34.
