Jon forgets his dancing shoes!

In a bizarre twist of luck, Jon Surtees had more bad luck this season, this time in the Elite CC 10 where he eventually finished 6th.

Jon arrived at the event, which was held just outside Harlow on minor roads, to find he had forgotten his cycling shoes. After no warm up and thinking he wouldn't be able to ride, Jon managed to borrow a pair of shoes from an API rider at the last minute. With no warm up, Jon rolled up to the start line and set off almost straight away. The shoes were setup completely differently to Jons own pair and he subsequently was riding on his tip toes for the race. Jon still crossed the finish line with a respectable time of 22.23 which was still good enough for 6th place and less than a minute behind event winner Richard O'Rourke (Chelmer) who won in a time of 21.34.
