Plenty of hard work but no
result

Gareth race diary...
'It was a flat course with no climbs in at all and with no
wind I knew it was going to be tough trying to force a break.
As per normal a few people tried to get away in the first
few miles including me but without success. As each lap passed
of the 65 mile race move after move tried to get away but
couldn't stay away. I remained active at the front trying
relentlessly to get away until with 3 laps to go a move of
about 4 riders finally went clear with a gap of around 15
seconds. Along with 3 other riders I jumped across to this
move and we started to work well.
After a lap away, we crossed the finish line but no less
than 2 miles later Julian Ramsbottom (Scunthorpe Poly) had
jumped across from the bunch but it had all come back together
again. This time Julian jumped again and forced another move
with about 6 riders in which I just didn't have the legs to
go with. This move stayed away by a handful of seconds to
the finish leaving me in the bunch at the finish.
It was a pretty fast race and good work out averaging 26.5
mph for race distance.
