Time keeping error costs Andy first win of the year

Andy Moore braved the strong winds on Saturday 17th March to narrowly miss out on his first win of the season in the North Midlands 25 TT at Hatfield in Yorkshire.

The course was changed because of road works and a very strong easterly wind made the going hard, but it was the same for all the riders. Andy felt pretty good but Vincent Macklam won with race in a time of 55.53.

The time keepers then gave Andy a time of 56.31 as he crossed the line, but this time was wrong. Andy had started his own stop watch just before his start and recorded his own time of 56.06, then minus 5 seconds as he started the watch just before his start which should have given Andy a time of 56.01. The mistake probably occurred at the finish line as three riders, including Andy finished together.
