Jon Takes 5th despite a tiring weekend

Southgate CC 10 TT - 29/04/2007 - Hertfordshire

After leaving his London base on Saturday and travelling to North Lincolnshire to help with the Barton Wheelers 10 on Saturday, Jon returned to Hertfordshire for an early start on Sunday 29th April in the Southgate CC 10 on the super fast F20/10 course.

Conditions were cold with a strong Northerly headwind blowing from the turn for the longer returning leg of this course. Jon was still feeling very tired off the back of a fairly hectic week where he had ridden a 10 and 25 mile TT the previous weekend, a heavy training session on Monday, a club evening 10 TT on Tuesday (which he won) and another club 10 TT on the Wednesday on the same course. Even though Jon rested on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, he then came up to Lincolnshire to help out at the Barton 10 TT on Saturday before travelling back to London after the event on Saturday evening. Jon was subsequently tired for the race on Sunday and consequently only managed a time of 22.07 against a flying Sam Barker’s who recorded a time of 21.02.

Jon was a good 30 seconds off his best which would have seen him challenging for 2nd place on a better day.
